  • Small Area Mid Year Estimates

    The ONS have released the latest small area populations estimates by ward, middle super output area, lower super output area and census output area each by single year of age and gender can be found in our Population section

  • Population Change 2010 -2020)

    A data sheet and report detailing the key population changes between 2010-20 in Gloucestershire and its districts has now been published.

     

    Key topics include: changes in population composition, change in dependency ratios, population density change and population growth since 1991.

     

    Between 2010-20, Gloucestershire’s population grew by 7.84%, representing an increase of 46,553 people. Of Gloucestershire’s districts, Tewkesbury had the highest population growth, with an increase of 18.5% between 2010-20, and Cheltenham had the lowest with an increase of 0.99%.

  • Mid-2020 Population Estimates Summary Report and Key Issues Infographic

    A summary report detailing the Mid-2020 population estimates key statistics for Gloucestershire and its districts has now been released. Key topics include: population composition, population change and components of change, dependency ratios, median age and population density.

     

    A fact sheet which uses infographics to visualise the key population issues has also been produced.

  • Household Projections 2018-2043

    Using ONS household projections 2018-2043 data, the Household Projections section contains an infographics summary report and an accompanying data spreadsheet. These provide an indication of how the number, size and structure of households in Gloucestershire and its districts will change between 2018 to 2043.

  • Mid 2020 Population Estimates

    The 2020 Mid-Year Population Estimates at district and county level have been published by the Office for National Statistics. The population of Gloucestershire was estimated to be around 640,650 in 2020, representing a rise of approximately 3,580 people since 2019. This is the equivalent to a growth of 0.56% in population from 2019 to 2020, which is slightly higher than the England and Wales growth of  0.47%.   • Equalities 2021

    The Population Analysis of Protected Characteristics has been updated to include the latest information available as of March 2021, and is now available to download in the Equality & Diversity section of the Inform website. It provides an overview of the population of Gloucestershire by nine protected characteristics as set out in the Equality Act 2010.

  • Mid 2019 Population Estimates

    The 2019 Mid-Year Population Estimates at district and county level have been published by the Office for National Statistics. The population of Gloucestershire was estimated to be around 637,070 in 2019, representing a rise of approximately 3,512 people since 2018. This is the equivalent to a growth of 0.6% in population from 2018 to 2019, which is in line with the England and Wales growth of  0.6%. The estimates for Gloucestershire and its districts can be found here.
